PIOTTI, GARDONE, One of a pair of Piotti's ordered in 1985 through Holland and Holland, shot and regulated by WJ Jeffery. Hand built by the original Piotti brothers and hand engraved by Araldo Piotti personally. Weight and balance is exceptional as is the condition. SLE, 2 3/4", 27" choked IC/IMod. 14 1/4" highly figured wood to checkered butt. Diamond straight hand grip and very fine checkering also present. Silvered action beautifully engraved in the classic Holland open acanthus style. Holland, hand detachable locks, beaded fences and front articulated front trigger round out this hand built receiver. 6 1/2lbs but feels closer to 6 due the great care taken to balance the gun. It was not uncommon during this era for Holland to facilitate the sale of Piotti guns - a great testament to this top tier Italian maker.

Mr. Watts started this firm after he opened a shooting school in London towards the end of the 19th century - the facility was refered to as the London Sporting Park. The shop itself was located on Bond Street and the shooting school was based at Hendon, North London. A Webley Screw Grip action beautifully engraved. 29" choked Sk2/IMod. 15 1/2' well figured wood to Silvers pad. Action has gone grey and features Holland - esque , bold acanthus engraving style. Scroll back action retains strong to moderate original case colors and utilizes a rare assisted opened system in which the gun is cocked when the barrels are closed and relaxed when the gun is opened not unlike the Lancaster system. Diminutive action with small sharply beaded fences - a look Harper was well known for both with Churchill and of course on the rare guns he would attribute his name to. This elegant side by side is both rare and beautiful through and through, ready for the field, tipping the scales at 5lbs 13oz.

The stock has been modified with Airsoft system to reduce recoil. It is adjustable with the used of a pump which is included. Coin finished receiver and overall the gun is clean and appears to have seen little use. Krieghoff was careful to maintain a consistent weight regardless of the barrel set used. Weight 8lbs 2oz. Cased in a robust aluminum Americase. A wonderful set up for anyone that may be recoil sensitive. |

This pair of shotguns was purportedly made for a Mr. William Alton Jones, president of CITGO oil & gas conglomerate. William Alton Jones owned a 2000+ acre hunting preserve in Rhode Island where he vacationed and entertained his close friend D. Eisenhower and many other dignitaries. The Jones property was given to the University of Rhode Island upon his untimely death in a plane crash. Today it is the Alton Jones Campus and wildlife research center.
This fine pair has made their way back and forth across the pond many times to shoot at esteemed estates scattered across the countryside. Consider acquiring this fine pair and continuing the tradition. |

The stock exhibits great figure and a strong fiddle back grain. This a very petite action utilizing the classic Lancaster dipped edge lock plate. Weak to moderate original case colors and sharp engraving remain throughout. The engraving alone on this gun is something to behold.
