HOLLAND & HOLLAND, LONDON, 8X57 Double rifle, #17498 a preliminary seach shows the rifle was received 1895 by Lord Wolverton. The 28" barrels were originally proofed at 38grs of Rifleite at .303 cal., the rifle was subsequently rechambered to 8X57. 14 7/16" highly figured wood to horn butt plate. The action has gone grey and retains excellent scroll and bank note engraving throughout. Fences are beaded and display the shell motif made famous by Holland and Holland. Bores are perfect.
