Action retains moderate to strong case colors, top drawer sharp, full coverage scroll. Features sculpted action, beaded fences, gold plated internal parts and Southgate ejectors. This stunning piece tips the scales at 6 1/2lbs and it full weight comes to bear as it basks in its original case with makers label, accoutrements and outer case adornment proudly stating "His Highness Maharaja of Rewa". Rewa is a north central province in India famous for its white tigers and rich hunting history. This fine gun represents the English gun trades ability to produce a Best boxlock and one cant be too surprised it comes from a Scottish firm. This proud firms history begins in the mid 1700s, eventually absorbs Joeseph Harkom and is later taken over by John Dickson.

Half pistol with horn grip cap, 14 3/4" stunning highly figured wood with strong fiddle back texture including 1/2" wood extension with grooved butt. Unique terraced and highly sculpted action retains weak case colors and is completely covered in breath taking fine scroll engraving. Beautifully balanced in the hand the gun weighs 6 1/2lbs. This action stands out in any gun rack and is begging for an article on its unique action. The entire gun - lock stock and barrels stands as a work of art and exemplify the prolific design explosion before the turn of the 19th century and only adds to list of outstanding gun producers of Scotland.

WESTLEY RICHARDS, COPY - JAPAN I have come across a copy of a Westley Richards single trigger drop lock. I believe the gun to have originated in Japan based on the only marking on the action flats. The barrels for a variety of reasons have left them too thin to shoot - min wall of .009" and sleeving is needed perhaps a set of Briley inserts. The copy is an excellent one and separate from the engraving and lack of proof marks I could not tell you this was a fake. All tolerances and stock dimensions are outstanding in every way. 29" engraved tubes, 14 1/8" highly figure wood with strong fiddle back to horn butt plate. Action is fully engraved retaining weak case colors and features a Westley single selective trigger and hinged floor plate - action is need of re-jointing 6lbs 5 oz.

Rifilng is absolutely stunning. 14 1/2" well figured wood to checkered horn butt plate. Screws are excellent and the wood to metal fit is breath taking. Action retains original patina and traces of case coloring. Engraving remains sharp throughout, hammers are tight even the checkering on the hammers remains sharp to the touch.
